Mother’s Day isn’t the same for everyone. For people living without a mother figure, whether through bereavement or estrangement, it can be an especially difficult time.

That’s why, as part of our 2026 Mother’s Day range, we’ve partnered with The Motherless Mothers to create two cards designed specifically for motherless mothers.

The Motherless Mothers charity and community is dedicated to supporting motherless mothers, by circumstance or by choice. It's a place for women whose mothers are absent due to loss, illness, estrangement, or any situation whereby maternal presence and support are missing.

The messages behind these cards reflect real experiences, and are written with care and understanding. The two designs created as part of this collaboration are available in store across the UK now.

If you prefer to shop online, we also have the cards available to personalise here from only £1.99.

A square greeting card held in one hand, featuring a line‑art sun rising over waves with the message: ‘Things aren’t always easy. Life isn’t always straightforward. But despite it all, I am sending love.

Why this matters to us

At cardfactory, representation and inclusion are incredibly important to us – they shape our business, our team, and the products we create.

We’re a company that celebrates life’s big moments, but we also want to be there for our customers during the moments that aren’t always easy to celebrate.

Here’s our full statement on the collaboration:

“Real, human connections are at the heart of what cardfactory does. Representation and inclusion are core to our values and our design principles. Our values guide our business and our colleagues, and subsequently our offer.

While we’re a celebrations business, through this approach we want to support our customers, even if some of their life moments aren’t a cause for celebration.
For anyone living without a mother figure – either through bereavement or estrangement – Mother's Day can feel quite challenging.

That's why we've worked closely with The Motherless Mothers on two very special cards for our 2026 range.

We've been privileged to work with the charity and we're very proud of these cards, which is a further demonstration of our approach to representation and inclusion.”

Peter Fox, Editorial Manager at cardfactory, worked closely on the range:

“It's so important to me that our ranges represent everyone; whoever you are and whatever your experience, you deserve to find a card in our stores that reflects you!

I was overjoyed to work with Louise at The Motherless Mothers, who wrote the beautiful messages for these very special cards.

In our collaboration with this amazing charity, I really hope we've taken another step forward in making sure our ranges represent everyone.”

We’re proud to partner with The Motherless Mothers on this step forward for representation in our Mother’s Day cards range.

Everyone’s story is different,  and everyone deserves to feel seen. If you or someone you know is navigating Mother’s Day without a mother figure, we hope these cards help acknowledge that experience with honesty, care and compassion.

Be sure to keep an eye on our socials where we’ll be sharing special videos from members of The Motherless Mothers community who were part of this collaboration, giving a voice to the people behind the project and the meaning behind it.
