Macmillan Cancer Support

Through the incredible efforts of Card Factory staff and customers, we have now raised over £7 million!

Card Factory has been supporting Macmillan Cancer Support since 2006. So far, we’ve raised over £7 million for people affected by cancer.

Since 2006, employees and customers at Card Factory have taken part in multiple fundraising events for Macmillan, ranging from loose change donations to the annual National Bear Raffle, and Christmas card promotions. This incredible support will help to ensure that no one faces cancer alone, so thank you.

In 2016, ‘Hugs the Bear’ appeared in every store and the National Bear Raffle raised more than £85,000 for Macmillan – a truly fantastic sum. Customers were also treated to the sight of our staff dressed in weird and wonderful fancy dress costumes!

We would like to thank everyone who has taken part in helping us to support Macmillan Cancer Support year after year.

All of the money raised will go towards providing vital practical, emotional, medical, and financial support to people living with cancer.

Every penny that you donate helps to pay for the many services and information products that Macmillan Cancer Support provides to people affected by cancer.

For example, 7p could pay for a copy of the Money Worries leaflet, which features information about how Macmillan Cancer Support can help with financial difficulties by giving advice on benefits and information on Macmillan Grants. And, 52p could pay for a copy of The Cancer Guide, which can help someone recently diagnosed with cancer, and their family, to understand more about cancer, its treatment, and the help available.

Your loose change donations, raffle entries and Christmas card purchases have raised a whopping £7million. This amazing contribution could pay for around 40 Macmillan nurses for a year, helping people living with cancer and their families to receive essential medical, practical, and emotional support, a new chemotherapy suite in a hospital, and 10 Macmillan social workers or family support workers for a year, who help people to manage the social and practical problems of living with cancer.

Sadly, 1 in 3 of us will be affected by cancer in one way or another, but with the help of Macmillan - and people who support the cause - a real difference can be made. If you need support, Macmillan is there every step of the way. Call the Macmillan Support Line free on 0808 808 00 00 (Monday – Friday, 9am until 8pm) or visit the Macmillan website here.
